Architecture Major Receives UDM’s Vivere ex Missione Award
University of Detroit Mercy presented its Vivere ex Missione Award to Architecture graduate Miranda Dufresne at its May 9 commencement ceremony on the McNichols Campus.
The Vivere ex Missione — Latin for “To Live Out the Mission” — is presented annually to one graduating student who best exemplifies the mission of UDM. Recipients are selected by the Mission, Urban and Social Justice Team, which reviews nominees’ intellectual, social, ethical and spiritual qualities.
“Miranda is a true example of living out the mission,” says UDM President Antoine M. Garibaldi. As a UDM student, Dufresne served as a presidential ambassador, president of the local chapter of the American Institute of Architecture Students, a tutor in the Student Success Center, a member of both the Student Alumni Association and campus food committee, and a resident advisor.
Dufresne’s involvement at UDM has also included a wide spectrum of leadership and service activities. She has received the praise of her peers, professors and classmates, being described as possessing a perfect combination of leadership, empathy and integrity. Dufresne will return to UDM in the fall to pursue a Master’s of Community Development.
