About YPI: Youth and Philanthropy Initiative

Each year thousands of secondary school students participate in YPI, the signature program of the Toskan Casale Foundation. Since rocketing on the scene in 2002 at Royal St. George’s College in Toronto, YPI has engaged hundreds of schools worldwide, across Canada, United States, England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

Our Mission

To provide secondary school students with a hands-on, reality-based experience through a strong academic philanthropy course which gives them the skills to assess the needs of their community and make grants to grassroots, community based charities meeting those needs. Our course will empower young people to authentically participate in the development of their communities, engaging them as dedicated problem solvers and volunteers. YPI promotes a sense of responsibility, respect and a commitment to building compassionate communities: http://www.goypi.org/

YPI donated $5,000 to the winning charity. The winning charity this year was Run-a-Lung. The students who presented clearly had the superior presentation but it is both touching and fitting that Run-a-Lung won this year.

The winners of the YPI project:

Cheyne Ferguson, Faizah Gaya, Kianna Barran, Calista McLeod, Ashlee Hardy
