Celebrating over 20 years of Hot Docs!

It is hard to believe that Hot Docs’ 20th anniversary has come and gone. We are thrilled that we have been able to celebrate over two decades of mind-blowing, “true story” films. We are equally excited to usher in a new century of programming at the historic Bloor Hot Docs Cinema, the treasured centenarian landmark within Toronto and its arts and film community.

As a registered Canadian charity, the financial support, patronage, sponsorship and donations that we have received have helped establish Hot Docs, and continue to be a crucial component of our success today.

We believe documentaries are social catalysts that have the power to change perspectives, strengthen our culture, and challenge the status quo. Hot Docs is proud to advance the art of documentary filmmaking, especially as tools that advance understanding, promote civic dialogue and fuel positive social change within communities.

Through the help of our supporters, the 2014 Hot Docs Festival will reach over 180,000 attendees and engage over 80,000 youth with our free Docs for Schools program. We will continue to help independent filmmakers find new funding support for their films, while providing critical training to hundreds of emerging documentarians. The Bloor Hot Docs Cinema will continue to thrive as one of the only documentary-focused theatres in the world. In two short years, we’ve welcomed 330,000 doc aficionados, enrolled 6000 devoted members, empowered 9000 youth, and have worked with hundreds of sister festivals and community groups from across the city.
